Voting on the Sweet Sixteen matchups came to a close on Tuesday afternoon and eight movies were lucky enough to advance in our tightest round of voting yet. While there were still some clear winners, some matchups came down to the very final seconds before the polls closed. In the end, we were left with the movies we expected and our one cinderella finally fell.

Now we move on to the Elite Eight where each region will feature one matchup and the winner will advance to the Final Four. Each winner will also be given the title as best move from their particular generation.

Before we get to the Elite Eight matchups, let’s check out how we got here with a quick recap of the Sweet Sixteen.

Golden Region Sweet Sixteen Recap

Ariel and company held the lead for most of the round but a strong final push from Simba and friends gave The Lion King the victory.

Another incredibly close matchup but it will be Aladdin riding the magic carpet into the Elite Eight after a hard fought win over Belle and The Beast.

Classic Region Sweet Sixteen Recap

A strong showing from The Jungle Book finally gave Snow White and the dwarfs a run for their money but the princess will be whistling all the way to the Elite Eight.

A remarkable run from the No. 14 101 Dalmatians sadly comes to an end in the Sweet Sixteen as Lady and the Tramp pull away late for the victory.

Pixar Region Sweet Sixteen Recap

It’s been a relatively easy road for Pixar favorite Toy Story and that theme continued in the Sweet Sixteen with an easy victory over Wall-E to advance.

Not much drama in the Pixar region from either matchup as Nemo easily dispatched Toy Story 3 for a spot in the Elite Eight they will try and make it two in a row against the Toy Story franchise.

Modern Region Sweet Sixteen Recap

Elsa and Anna trailed early but were able to collect enough votes as the round went along to make it a clean sweep for the number one seeds once again.

A battle of tropical paradises went the way of Moana meaning we will have 1 v. 2 Elite Eight matchups in every region.
